Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the DoorStopper platform ("Service") operated by DoorStopper ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. If you are using the Service on behalf of a business entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. Account Registration

To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • Keep your password confidential and not share it with third parties
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account at hello@doorstopper.io

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we believe, in our sole discretion, are being used fraudulently or harmfully.

3. Subscription Plans and Billing

DoorStopper offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed on a monthly basis. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

  • Upgrades: Take effect immediately; you are charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the billing cycle.
  • Downgrades: Take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
  • Cancellation: You may cancel at any time. Access continues through the end of the paid period.
  • Refunds: We offer a 7-day refund on first-time paid plan subscriptions. Contact hello@doorstopper.io.
  • Price changes: We will provide at least 30 days' notice before changing subscription prices.

All fees are exclusive of applicable taxes. You are responsible for any taxes applicable to your use of the Service.

4. Acceptable Use and Content

You are solely responsible for all content you create, upload, or publish through the Service ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and process that content for the purpose of providing the Service.

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent rental listings
  • Discriminate against prospective tenants based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, disability, or any other protected class under the Fair Housing Act
  • Violate any local, state, or federal rental housing laws
  • Spam platforms or post duplicate listings in violation of their terms
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or attack our systems
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend accounts that violate these policies without prior notice.

5. AI-Generated Content

DoorStopper uses artificial intelligence to generate listing content on your behalf. You acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated content is provided "as is" and you are responsible for reviewing it before posting
  • We do not guarantee that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or appropriate for your specific listing
  • You retain ownership of the input information you provide; AI-generated outputs are licensed to you for use in your listings
  • You must comply with the terms of each third-party platform where you post content

6. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding User Content), features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of DoorStopper. Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without our prior written consent.

Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our name, logo, or branding except as expressly permitted.

7. Third-Party Services

DoorStopper integrates with third-party services including Supabase (database), Stripe (payments), Anthropic (AI), and Resend (email). Your use of these services through DoorStopper is subject to their respective terms of service. We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, DOORSTOPPER AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES: INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, DATA LOSS, OR FAILURE TO FIND A TENANT: ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CAUSE OF ACTION SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DoorStopper and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, and expenses arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for any breach of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitation of liability) shall survive.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or prominent notice within the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
